So now you know how to access your stats. But are they accurate? There's a good chance they aren't. Read on....
It's entirely possible that your stats ARE off a little. Why? Cache is why. If you have a web site that is being accessed by surfers who use big ISPs (AOL, Earthlink, etc) then you may not be getting the complete picture. Here's why....
When an AOL surfer accesses your site, many times the ISP will cache, or store, a copy of your page on their machines. Then the next time another AOL surfer accesses your site, the stored page is sent to them and not the original from your site.
This is more important because it's important to know accurate numbers in regards to advertisers and your own marketing efforts.
The solution is instruct the large ISP providers to NOT cache your page and here's how...
In your HTML pages, after <HEAD> and before </HEAD> just put this in...
<META HTTP-EQUIV="CACHE-CONTROL" CONTENT="NO-CACHE">
Now when someone using a large ISP accesses your pages, their ISP servers are instructed to not store a copy.
